From Data to Daily Life
— Rethinking Education
on Migration

Migration

Migration has shaped Europe for centuries, yet students often hear about it through biased or simplified stories.

Learning set

This is why we have we created Invisible Stories, a set of educational materials designed for teachers. It invites you and your students to look beneath the surface, explore the daily lives of migrants, and reflect on the values and ideas that shape young people’s views.

4 Lessons

Four ready-to-use lessons filled with games, quizzes, infographics, and group activities. These tools help to make migration a topic your students can understand, relate to, and discuss critically.

Games Quizzes Infographics Activities

Each of the lessons can be used on its or as part of a full learning journey. Students begin with the big picture: what does the data really say about migration in Europe? Then they move into personal stories that bring the topic to life and help challenge stereotypes.

Cross- curricular approach

We believe that migration is a cross-curricular topic. Our materials are designed for teachers of history, geography, civic education, and for anyone who wishes to include the topic of migration in their educational plan.

Journey

Every migration starts with a journey. How do migrants reach Europe? Where do they come from? What does the data really tell us about their paths? In this lesson, students gain a deeper understanding of recent migration flows by comparing their assumptions with real, data-based insights.

  • Age: 12+

Lives

After the journey, a new life begins. What are the everyday lives of migrants like? What do they feel, miss, and hope for? In this lesson, students explore the common, day-to-day experiences of people with a migration background. They reflect on what stereotypes are and how these influence our attitudes toward people from other cultures or regions.

  • Time: 45 min
  • Age: 12+

Past

Migration has long shaped and enriched Europe. But what objects, customs, and ideas have migrants brought with them? Which moments in history sparked these migrations? In this lesson, students explore migration as a global phenomenon by uncovering the hidden histories behind everyday objects.

  • Time: 45 min
  • Age: 12+

Ties

How does the process of integration unfold? Do collective identities evolve? When do people feel excluded – and what helps them feel included? What are the barriers to communication and mutual understanding? In this lesson, students explore the complexity of identity and integration through role-play and group activities that encourage debate, reflection, and empathy.
